Spread the Hope: Richard Noyce

Spread the Hope: Richard Noyce
Dear Friends and Colleagues;
Here in Biafarin, we all hope that you and your loved ones are safe and well.
Richard Noyce, the famous art writer and critic, has sent us his message to spread the hope among the artists and art businesses in the art world.
... and the arts as ever remain a vital hope for the future, even if they are currently threatened by state and sponsor reductions in financial support.

These are dark days indeed: days in which politicians, health professionals and social well-being practitioners collide more than they cooperate. There remains hope, always, and the arts as ever remain a vital hope for the future, even if they are currently threatened by state and sponsor reductions in financial support.
One small glimmer: the extreme reduction in flights and land transport has resulted in a sharp reduction in atmospheric pollution. As a result of this, people in many parts of the world are reporting seeing skies clearer than for a very long time, and that they are seeing stars in numbers and clarity that they have never seen before. That, alone, is a sign of hope. If we are able to reach out to the stars we will get through this time of crisis.
Once the terrible sadness has retreated, let us work towards building even stronger links between the arts and people, offering hope and positivity to counter the rising tides of authoritarianism that threaten the freedom of so many people in the world. As Alfred Bester wrote, in the final part of 'The Demolished Man', "there has been joy, there will be joy again".
Spread the Hope:
Give hope to the art world.
