Dear Artists,

Since the COVID-19 pandemic was declared on the 30th January, we have been carefully observing how the situation has developed across the globe.
The current situation doesn't permit to us to decide the deadline for the subscriptions and the place of the final exhibition. For this reason, the deadline of the current YICCA 2020 contest has been extended. The YICCA contest remains open for all the subscriptions. You can apply to the YICCA 2020 contest as normally. We'll keep you posted about the new deadline as soon as possible.
We are doing this to guarantee our artists safety, and also guarantee continuity for our services and activities. Thank you for your support, and for choosing YICCA.
Stay safe at home and make ART!

Spread the Hope: Richard Noyce

Spread the Hope: Richard Noyce
Dear Friends and Colleagues;
Here in Biafarin, we all hope that you and your loved ones are safe and well.
Richard Noyce, the famous art writer and critic, has sent us his message to spread the hope among the artists and art businesses in the art world.
... and the arts as ever remain a vital hope for the future, even if they are currently threatened by state and sponsor reductions in financial support.

Richard Noyce
Art writer, scholar and art critic

March 31, 2020
These are dark days indeed: days in which politicians, health professionals and social well-being practitioners collide more than they cooperate. There remains hope, always, and the arts as ever remain a vital hope for the future, even if they are currently threatened by state and sponsor reductions in financial support.
One small glimmer: the extreme reduction in flights and land transport has resulted in a sharp reduction in atmospheric pollution. As a result of this, people in many parts of the world are reporting seeing skies clearer than for a very long time, and that they are seeing stars in numbers and clarity that they have never seen before. That, alone, is a sign of hope. If we are able to reach out to the stars we will get through this time of crisis.
Once the terrible sadness has retreated, let us work towards building even stronger links between the arts and people, offering hope and positivity to counter the rising tides of authoritarianism that threaten the freedom of so many people in the world. As Alfred Bester wrote, in the final part of 'The Demolished Man', "there has been joy, there will be joy again".
Spread the Hope:
Give hope to the art world.

Tips
Here are some important tips:

Introduce your award winner artworks: If you have an artwork that has won a prize before or has been exhibited at some prestigious venues, submit it.

Showcase your famous artworks: If you have an artwork that has been reviewed or received encouraging comments, submit it. You can also add the art critique, review or comment text along with the critic or reviewer name in the description section.

Submit 5 to 10 artworks: To increase the chance of being sold, give enough number of artworks to potential buyers to have a better understanding of your art.

Enhance your revenue streams: Sell prints, digital files and merchandise along with your original artworks, if possible. Having various revenue streams can always boost your sales income.

Consider artworks with shipment-friendly size: Artworks smaller than 150 cm at the longest side usually sell better online.

Upgrade your artist account in Biafarin portal: Artists with Gold and Platinum package will get free shipment service for their sold artworks.

Set reasonable prices for your artworks: Set reasonable and affordable prices for your artworks, not too high or too low. According to art market stats, the artworks under USD 5,000 have a better chance to sell online.

Upload clear artwork photos: Avoid cluttered artwork images. The photos should focus on the artwork itself, anything more is a distraction.

Choose artworks with trending topics: The subject of this opportunity is free. So, it’s better to choose the topics of the day, such as peace, animals, nature, climate, people, culture, special events, fantasy, etc., and establish a clear message within your art.

Provide concise and understandable artwork description: Write a description for your artwork (it may include your artwork story, inspiration, and achievement, if any) to develop your audience’s understanding. Use simple words and explain tangible concepts.
Showcase your art to the world broadly and professionally.

Highlight special materials used for your artwork: If you’ve used special materials that create meaning in your artwork, mention it.

Choose unique names for your artworks: Choose a unique name for your artwork to help viewers to communicate more closely with it. Leaving the artwork name Untitled is not recommended.

Promote the collection related to the artwork: If your artwork belongs to a collection, also include the series title and a brief explanation about it.

Feature your artworks on your website: During this selling period, it is a good idea to feature and introduce your selected artworks on the top of the home page or artworks section of your website.

Take an influencing artist photo: Add a photo of yourself as the artist to be placed next to your artwork where possible. The photo should demonstrate essential elements of your artistic mindset.

Plan to sell your art in 4 easy steps

In today's busy digital world, waiting to be discovered is not a practical option, and hitting the art market with no plan won't get you far. Therefore, for entering the art business world, where thousands of talented artists are competing for promotion and sales, having an art marketing plan is essential to your exposure and success.

Main steps

Here are four essential steps to create and run a productive art marketing plan:

Set your goals

Defining your artistic goals is the first step to shape your future as an artist. As many gurus have said it, if you do not clarify where you are going, eventually you will end up somewhere, that most probably is not where you have had in mind.
Focus on what success means to you as an artist. Does it mean more sales, winning more art prizes, being reviewed by known art critics, being published in art media, or simply feeling that you've learned your craft?
By setting your goals, "every tiny step is one step closer to where you are going," as quoted by Ron Kaufman.

Prepare your plan

You need to quantify your targets. Moreover, it is necessary to prepare a list of art marketing service providers, critics, online shops, magazines, blogs, and art competitions that you want to communicate with during a year. You can also research and choose a proper art marketing platform to use it as a primary vehicle for your journey.

Plan your steps to success in art

Execute your plan

Now that you have set your goals and quantified them, it is time to start executing your plan. Keep in mind that a 1000 mile journey begins with the first step. So, start walking the path one step at a time to achieve your artistic goals. Contact magazines and ask their policies for publishing, communicate with art lovers who might be interested in your art to ask their opinion, check art competitions website to read their terms and see if you are eligible to participate, review online art shops and visit art galleries to choose most suitable places to sell, reach out to art critics and ask their feedback about your art.

If it all started to look very frustrating, do not worry, help is here! Simply try Biafarin Start to not only plan your art marketing but also ensure the effective execution of your plan.

Evaluate the results

Each successful journey requires adjustment. The efficient monitoring of a marketing plan ensures your plan's success. With the regular evaluation of your achievements, you can identify the shortcomings, eliminate what is not working, and add to what brings you closer to your targets.

Biafarin Art Marketing Planner has a built-in monitoring feature to help you in assessing your progress and improving constantly.

What's Next?

Grab a pen and start writing your goals to plan your art marketing. If you are looking for a tool, use Biafarin Start for free to set and quantify your artistic goals and get the most suitable package based on your art marketing needs.

How to run your art business from your website?

How to run your art business from your website
You, as an artist, are a small business. Your website can act as a HQ for running your art business. To utilize the power of your website, consider following points:
Photo by MichaƂ Kubalczyk on Unsplash
Keep your website up-to-date
An outdated website discourages your visitors to navigate your website. You need to regularly add new artworks and announce your events and achievements. This engages your visitors to stay longer and come back to your website more frequently.
Promote your website
Add your website link to all your promotional contents such as blog posts, announcements, press releases, news articles and advertisements. Then, share and circulate them via social media, magazines, art blogs and forum.
Your Website, Your HQ:
Run your business from your website.
Make your website visible
Your website needs to be visible in the first pages of search results. Choosing specific keywords related to your art and performing search engine optimization (SEO) will help your website to rank high on searches.
Stay connected
Keep connected with your audience through your website and social media. By incessant communication, detailed answers to the comments and messages you can interact with your audience and show them what’s going on with your art.
Sell from your website
Now that your website attracts and engages visitors, it is important to sell directly from your website. Adding a fully functional online shop enables your potential buyers and collectors to purchase directly from your website.
